John Nevans put his type 2 diabetes into remission

John Nevans believed that his type 2 diabetes was chronic and progressive and that eventually he would have to take insulin.

“The information I was given was all very negative and painted a bleak picture. My HbA1c was 59mmol/mol (7.5%) and I was just told to keep an eye on it and do my best to manage my blood sugars.”

John decided to go low carb after watching a documentary about two brothers who were trying to beat their father’s diabetes with real food and fewer carbs. Now he enjoys a diet of eggs, meat, vegetables and salads.

“I’ve lost about 51kg (9st) in total – I used to be 146kg (23st) and now I weigh 88kg (14st). I’ve come off all my medication and put my type 2 diabetes into remission. My HbA1c has gone from 59 to 35mmol/mol (5.4%), my digestive problems have stopped and my blood pressure’s reduced”

“I decided to recently join the Low Carb Program as I wanted to access support and speak to like-minded people who are also on the diet and have been through a similar experience.”
