"I've placed my type 2 diabetes into remission"

Published on 10th Jun, 2022

After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, Ralph Taylor started to research ways he could manage his blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of complications. In July 2018, he began his low carb journey.

“It wasn’t difficult no, I used to drink a lot of fizzy drinks, but I cut those out. I’ve also cut down on alcohol and only drink if it’s a special occasion.”

Ralph has lost a total of 37kg (5st 11 lbs) and reduced his HbA1c from 47 mmol/mol (6.5%) to 34 (5.3%).

“I feel a lot different, I’d become insulin resistant over time and my body had just had enough, but I’ve managed to place my type 2 diabetes into remission”

Ralph’s go-to low carb meals include scrambled eggs with mushrooms fried in butter, salad with ham and avocado and free-range sausages with cauliflower mash.

“I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t go low carb, there’s so many benefits such as coming off medication, reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease and fixing any metabolic syndrome issues you might have. Try it for 4 weeks, you’ve nothing to lose and a lot to gain.”
